Students from Pierce and Van Buren Elementary Schools battle poverty, gang violence, and hunger daily and can often find trouble quicker than they can find guidance. The Y stepped in to change that.
Dozens of families across the Oklahoma City area have received financial assistance to attend the Y after school programs like those at Pierce and Van Buren where they learn about character development and life skills like conflict resolution and social competency. Students also receive help with homework and participate in regular physical activity through sports and games.
What makes it possible for these and thousands of other children to receive financial assistance to attend after school programs like those at Pierce and Van Buren? Generous gifts to the Strong Kids Campaign.
