The Y proudly offers memberships and respite child care services to eligible military families and personnel to provide extra support during a time when loved ones are away from home. It’s our way of giving back to those who dedicate themselves to serving our country.

YMCA MILITARY WELCOME CENTER

In operation since June 4, 2007, the YMCA MILITARY WELCOME CENTER is located in Will Rogers World Airport, next to the Southwest Airlines ticket counter in the main terminal. Through the Military Welcome Center, the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City offers a restful and relaxing atmosphere for traveling military members from all branches, active or retired. This collaboration between four entities (the City of Oklahoma City, Will Rogers World Airport, the Armed Services YMCA, and the EARLYWINE PARK YMCA) continues a proud history of YMCAs serving the military dating back to the Civil War.

The center operates primarily with the help of volunteers and community donations. The caring volunteers strive to provide a home like atmosphere for the travelers through providing snacks, drinks, internet usage, games, TV usage, and more.

The Y encourages everyone to recognize the sacrifices that military members and their families make in service to our country,” said David Foster, Executive Director at EARLYWINE PARK YMCA. “Residents of Oklahoma can also show support for military personnel by getting involved with the YMCA in their community or other local organizations that help military families here in Oklahoma City.”

“We are proud to be able to provide this service to the men and women who have made a commitment to serve our country,” said Mike Grady, President and CEO of the YMCA OF GREATER OKLAHOMA CITY. “This Center provides them with a comfortable place to wait for their transportation to their next assignment.”

For more information about the YMCA MILITARY WELCOME CENTER, contact David Foster, EARLYWINE PARK YCMA Executive Director, at 405 378 0420 or Steven Lee, YMCA MILITARY WELCOME CENTER Director, at 405 680 9781.

JOIN US EVERY NOVEMBER FOR MILITARY FAMILY MONTH

First established by the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) and recognized by first lady Nancy Reagan in 1993, Military Family Month recognizes the dedication and service of military personnel and their families. On Oct. 30, 2009, President Barack Obama continued this important initiative by proclaiming November as Military Family Month, calling on “all Americans to honor military families through private actions and public service for the tremendous contributions they make in the support of our service members and our Nation.”
