These words truly reflect the character of Shade, Senior Program Director at the Midwest City YMCA. Shade’s Y journey began all the way up in Anchorage, Alaska back in 2008 where he was a Before and After School Care Counselor. Since joining the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City in 2010, Shade’s dedication and passion have propelled him forward in his career as he’s worked his way up to his current leadership role. In addition to his role at the branch, he’s had the honor or serving on two national committees, the LGBTQ+ steering committee and the NCMS Diversity and Inclusion Committee. 

Today, Shade shares his perspective on how Pride Month is an example of the Y putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
