When Lt. Laura Henry steps onto the YMCA basketball court in her uniform, she’s not there on a call or to make an arrest. Along with her fellow officers, Lt. Henry is there to play basketball with teens in the area. The Midwest City Hoops program helps teens build trust and forge a real connection with police, allowing them to see past the badge and gun. It reminds the officers why they went into law enforcement in the first place, to serve and protect the Midwest City community. Y GIVES connection to the community.
