YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City

Welcome to the Campaigner's Tool Kit for the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City's Community Campaign!

Below you will find a variety of resources to assist in your fundraising efforts. You can download, share, link…the sky’s the limit!

While these assets are super helpful, always remember the most powerful tool in fundraising is telling YOUR story and then asking them to join you in the YMCA movement.

The Financial Development Team is here to assist so if you have questions, please contact Abby Werth, Development Officer for Annual Giving and Donor Relations, at awerth@ymcaokc.org

Happy Fundraising!

Share the Impact!

The Y has so many stories each and every day of the transformative power of community. Check out the videos below and share them on your own social channels, via text or email!

Your Campaign's Goals!

Each of your communities have unique needs and a specific goal for the Community Campaign. Below are the goal sheets which include a QR code to share. Pair this with the Giving Matrix and the Impact Sheets and share the “why” behind the Y!

What's YOUR Impact?

We know each branch is impacting the local community in amazing ways. Share and/or download the sheets below to enhance your Y story as you’re out there campaigning!

Social Media...Sharing is Caring!

Instead of posting your own Community Campaign content, share the YMCA’s content. Share the posts from your YMCA locations and our Association page so that you can help people see the work we’re doing together. To help you share posts faster, you can even sign up to be notified when the Y posts.
Nerd Alert: The more shares and engagement a post receives, the more Facebook’s algorithm will allow people to see our Community Campaign content.

Keep it looking fresh. Update your Facebook cover photo to the Community Campaign FB Cover Photo Graphic so that everyone will know you’re Team Y!

Make it personal. People are happy to support a great cause, but they’re more compelled to give by YOU. Share your personal story of why you love the Y. Have a birthday or another milestone to celebrate? Add a personal twist to your giving asks, such as $42 for your 42nd birthday, or $15 for your 15th wedding anniversary.

Tag, you’re it! Be sure to tag your friends in your posts so that they can be notified. This also helps more people see the post.

Tailor your messaging. Have a friend who is passionate about kids in their area? Know someone who is dedicated to making sure people feel included? The Y serves a diverse audience from all walks of life, so tweak messaging so that you’re shining a light on all the different ways the Y supports the community. Remember, YOU make it possible!

Thank you very much! Visit the Y’s page to find the pinned “Thank You for Giving” post. Share this post each time a donor gives and tag your donor by name so that you can personally thank them with a shout out.

Examples of Copy for Thank You Posts:

  • Thank you, (Insert Donor Name Here)! Because of donors like you, the Y is one step closer to meeting our goal! With your help, we can ensure the Y is accessible FOR ALL. You make it possible! give.ymcaokc.org/communitycampaign2024
  • (Insert Donor Name Here) helped the Y by donating to our Community Campaign. Did you know that gifts like these can be used to help a child receive FREE access to our Safety Around Water class? Learn more at give.ymcaokc.org/communitycampaign2024.

How do I create my own fundraising page on Classy?

Personal fundraising pages are great for people who like to set their own goals and use online and social media platforms to share the Y story more broadly!

Navigate to your branch’s Community Campaign page. (ask your branch executive director or admin for the link if you have not received it)

Click on “Become a Fundraiser!”

After creating your fundraising account, you may create an individual fundraising page or join a team fundraising page. You can set your own goal here.

(Each branch will determine if they are using teams or not. Ask your admin or executive director if you would like a team created.)

TIPS on your Fundraising Page!

Keep it personal! – Change the headline and story section of the page. Share why the Y is important to you!

Feel free to add your own photos to the page!
