YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City
The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is excited to announce Holiday Hoopla, a fun and festive event that will bring the Norman community together for a day of giving back. Join the OU women’s basketball Team, Coach Jennie Baranczyk and local families on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Norman YMCA (1350 Lexington Ave, Norman, OK) to this free community event for an afternoon of basketball, holiday activities and giving. The Y invites community members to bring unwrapped gifts or make a monetary donation to support our Angel Tree, helping to bring holiday joy to those in need.
“Holiday Hoopla is an event that embodies the spirit of giving, and we are thrilled to partner with the OU women’s basketball team to make this holiday season special for children and seniors in our community,” said Whitney Chandler, Norman YMCA executive director. “Norman has always shown tremendous support for the OU women’s basketball team, and we are excited to see that enthusiasm extend into an event that will have a meaningful impact.”
Holiday Hoopla will feature something for everyone, including:
  • Basketball activities with the OU women’s basketball team
  • Inflatable games for kids of all ages
  • Performances showcasing local community talent
  • Holiday crafts and activities for families
  • Wrapping care packages to spread cheer
  • Delicious holiday treats
“Building up our community and giving back helps make the foundation of our program and who we are as people,” said Jennie Baranczyk, head coach of the OU women’s basketball team. “We’re so excited to team up with the local YMCA this holiday season to bring some extra joy to kids in our area. It’s such an amazing opportunity to make a real difference and help make this time of year special for all the children we can reach.”
Since 1985, the Norman YMCA (formerly known as the Cleveland County Family YMCA) has long been a cornerstone of community engagement in Norman, providing critical resources and opportunities for individuals and families. Holiday Hoopla is an example of the Y’s ongoing commitment to making the community stronger through service and connection for all.
