Love, kindness, mercy, and justice. Break down the barriers of being a good neighbor with Joe Kendrick, Executive Director of Christian Mission, this Monday Morning as he walks us through the importance of being a good neighbor.
4 WAYS TO BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR
Like a good neighbor…
1) Be present. Being present means to be aware of the trials, struggles, and joys of your neighbor. It means staying connected by being aware of your surroundings and the situations your neighbor faces each day.
2) Be willing to carry your neighbor. Being a good neighbor means to be willing to go the extra mile. It means to be willing to carry your neighbor when they are unable to carry themselves. Be willing to tear off the roof of the house to help your neighbor.
3) Be faithful. Being faithful means doing what you say you are going to do. When you tell your neighbor you are going to do something for them, do what you said you will do. A good neighbor is faithful in their promises.
4) Be a DJ for love, mercy, kindness, and justice.
Being a disc jockey for love, mercy, kindness, and justice means using the language of our culture to help people become the best versions of themselves. When you look at the Y’s values, each value is to help our neighbors to become the best version of themselves. In turn, when we spin the records of love, mercy, kindness, and justice, we spin our core Christian principles in a way that will transform our community into the best version of itself.
And that is what it means to be a good neighbor.
