What is Teen Leadership Council?
YMCA Teen Leadership Council is a program designed for Oklahoma students that offers opportunities to develop leadership skills, build connections with other teens and engage with ideas and activities that promote personal intellectual and social development.
Members will attend monthly meetings, develop a community enrichment project, attend a state-wide retreat and be presented with exciting opportunities to have fun at local social events or participate in OKC-area service projects like the Regional Food Bank, Holiday Angel’s in the City, and much more! They will also learn about the value of the YMCA as non-profit organization and how to participate in a community campaign.
Who is Teen Leadership Council for?
Students grades 6 through 12!
Students entering 6th to 8th grade are eligible to apply for the YMCA Middle School Teen Councils.
Students entering 9th and 10th-grade are eligible to apply for the YMCA High School Teen Council.
For the 2023-2024 school year, we are also introducing an inaugural Teen Leadership Student Board open to select 11th grade and 12th grade students.

Learn important skills such as conflict management, effective communication, and more.
ENGAGING MEETINGS & ACTIVITIES
Attend engaging meetings with fun activities and meaningful discussions.
NEW FRIENDS
Socialize with like-minded teens and develop new friendships.
LEADERSHIP COUNCIL RETREAT
Attend the Y Teen Leadership Council statewide retreat at Central Oklahoma Camp and Conference Center.
